CAMPAÑA DE LATAS
The purpose of this campaign is to raise money to support our School in Alto Trujillo.

WORKSHOPS USDA - CLOSING CEREMONY
With a very favorable reception by the mothers who participate in the program “Desayunos Comunales” and other mothers from Sector 1A of Alto Trujillo and Sector 6D of El Milagro, the project “Talleres Productivos y Creativos 2011” (Creative and Productive Workshops 2011) is being implemented with the following courses: jewelry, cosmetology, embroidery, weaving, and sewing. While the mothers participate in the lessons, their children enjoy creating works of art with recyclable materials in workshops of their own. These courses take place on Mondays and Saturdays in the afternoon.
With the funds obtained through the small signup fees for the courses, plastic blench have been bought for use during the workshops.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY USDA!!
This July, USDA celebrates its fifth anniversary as an institution supporting low-income families and children in Trujillo.

Medical attention for students of "Una Sonrisa de Amor" school
The whole May, The Dr. Juan José Vela Acosta along with Dr. Elena Ríos, representantive of Club de Leones "Amistad y Servicio”, and other specialists did medical examinations to all the students of USDA school. They were attended in our school specially the tuesdays and thursdays in the afternoons.
All of them got a medical control card. This card contained a physical exam (weight, size, nutritional diagnosis, odontological test, Flat feet test, vision test, amog others).
The parents were grateful for this activity, since they don’t have access to this attention because they don’t have enough money for that; besides, they live far from the small medical center called ”posta medica”
The next step of this activity is to tabulate all the information to get relevant data such as the number of children with malnutrition, and any physical handicap (vision, flat feet, etc)
The second step will take place in June. There will be developed activities like: speeches about the children’s health problems that were found, professional evaluations and treatments for each of them.
Again, we thank the medical team for their responsible contribution and compromise with our brothers in need.

COME AND JOIN US!!!
This May 20th took place the first stage of the volunteering USDA broadcast, which was developed in The National University of Trujillo (UNT). The goal of this activity was to invite new people to join our volunteering.
The volunteers could give information to every student that showed interest in our NGO. The volunteers let them know about our programs and the way they work, so that we can get more hands and make a bigger family.
The work of that day brought positive results, since six new people went to participate in our “Compartiendo Sonrisas”. They demonstrated their vocation of service and their enthusiasm.
We thank the volunteers that made this first activity possible, and we invite everyone to join the following ones.
